This two hour boat tour takes you up the Tarcoles River, near Carara National Park. This educational experience will allow you to witness a wide variety of plant and animal life in the natural Estero Guacalillo mangrove eco system, which features four species of mangroves. Over fifty species of birds make their home here, including the beautiful and extremely rare Scarlet Macaw. Because of Costa Rica’s location along migratory zones, many species of migrant water fowl are commonly seen, in addition to the resident aviary populations. Large Iguanas and Jesus Cristo lizards are commonly spotted among the undergrowth. Maybe the most exciting aspect of this tour is the crocodile population, one of the largest in the world, with some of the monsters in the area measuring up to fifteen feet long.
